20071009 Feelings

I believe that quote and center it about my essence.

It reminds me a scene in a book I read where this little girl was afraid of the woods she was traveling through. Her travel companion, a big buff, armed forest ranger of a man, confidently said to her, "you are too ugly to eat." Though other people nearby gasped at such a mean comment, the little girl giggled and felt so much better. The reason was not the words or the action, it was the confidence behind the juxtaposition of such an insult as the rationale for why the ranger was not worried. And if he was not worried, then she did not have to either.

Later on during their adventures, the little girl was sad because she had no one to go home to. The ranger looked at her with a mischeivous grin and said, "you know, I have many ugly children at home. Another one won't be noticed. And this time, I will be the one to surprise my wife with another addition to the horde of ugly ducklings." She felt like someone cared.
